The Raspberry Pi 5 builds upon the phenomenal success of the Raspberry Pi 4. Compared to its predecessor, it delivers a 2-3x increase in CPU performance and a significant improvement in GPU performance, along with enhancements to the camera, display, and USB interface.
These interface improvements are provided by the RP1 I/O controller chip, designed in-house by Raspberry Pi. So, for the first time, there is actual Raspberry Pi silicon in their flagship product!
Enhancements:
The Raspberry Pi 5 has several notable improvements over previous models, including:
- On-board Power button
- 2-3 times faster thanks to the new processor
- Faster SD card access
- 2 camera/display ports (allowing for the connection of "2 displays" OR "2 cameras" OR "1 camera and 1 display")
- RTC capability with a separately sold battery module
- PCIe 2.0 x1 interface for separately sold PCIe HAT, enabling fast expansion possibilities
- Separate FAN connector, keeping the GPIO ports available when using a fan
- Separate UART connector for the Raspberry Pi Debug Probe
Specifications:
- 2.4GHz quad-core, 64-bit Arm Cortex-A76 CPU, with 512KB L2 caches and a 2MB shared L3 cache
- VideoCore VII GPU
- LPDDR4X-4267 SDRAM (Only 4GB and 8GB available at launch)
- 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz 802.11ac Wi-Fi
- Bluetooth 5.0 / Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
- Micro SD card slot, with support for high-speed SDR104 mode
- 2 × USB 3.0 ports, supporting simultaneous 5Gbps operation
- 2 × USB 2.0 ports
- Gigabit Ethernet, with PoE+ support (Please note: this requires a NEW PoE+ HAT)
- 2 × 4 lane MIPI camera/display transceivers

Please note!
This version needs an active cooling. Don't forget to add one to your order! A case with internal fan (for the Raspberry Pi 5) is also possible.
To get all possibilities from the USB-ports of this Raspberry Pi, you also need the 27W Raspberry Pi power supply.
