You may have heard of the Build HAT, but don't have the right motors to control your LEGO® with the Raspberry Pi? This starter kit offers a solution!

Raspberry Pi has developed the build HAT in collaboration with LEGO. With this you can control the motors from the Mindstorms inventor kit (51515) and the LEGO spike sets, but these are very expensive sets. Not everyone has the option to purchase these sets just to have the motors. That is why the RaspberryStore has put together a more affordable set, which already includes 2 motors. For example, you can connect sensors via the Raspberry Pi (not included), and control the LEGO® motors.

The Raspberry Pi starter kit consists of the following parts:

  • Raspberry Pi Build HAT, including all spacers for your favorite Pi
  • 12V Power Supply for the Build HAT (EU Plug)
  • Medium LEGO® motor 45603, including the necessary LPF2 connector (Medium Angular Motor)
  • Large LEGO motor 45602, including the necessary LPF2 connector (Large Angular Motor)


These motors were chosen because it is an ideal solution for high-power, high-torque applications. In addition, the motors have an integrated rotation sensor and absolute positioning for true linear control. The motor can therefore also be used as a rotation sensor.
